Happy New Year-New Edition
January 1st, 2008
Happy New Year everyone.
So, it’s the time to make New Years Resolutions and vow to really make it. So, my question to you…when’s the last time you actually made your resolution come true?
As far as New Years Resolutions for me:
1. I’d like to get somewhere between 13-18% body fat (right now I’m about 22% which is acceptable but not where I want to be)
2. Pray more. It’s easy to go to church every Sunday, but to make a real decision to make prayer part of your life is hard. It’s all about creating good habits and remaining consistent.
3. Career. I want to be rich, filthy rich. I will probably be moving and I’ll need the best job I can get. I may be going through a career change, a job change, or a location change.
4. I’m kind of embarrassed I didn’t write this, but I would like to be a better husband. And a better man all-around. In every relationship there is room for improvement and I am not immune.
5. Get more involved. I know I’m only 23, but there are a lot of things going on that I think I wish I was apart of that I just skip doing. For example, there’s Ultimate Frisbee city leagues I could join, basketball leagues, bible studies, book clubs, anything like that. And a lot of these Linds and I could even do together, and once she has a more stable schedule we could have fun with those.
6. And this isn’t just for 2008, it’s been something I’ve been big into for a couple years, but that is to know as much about everything as possible. Here’s the theory: we are all representatives of the world (some are ever reps of a whole district within a continent within a country within a state within a county and within a district), and our world is generally young. (Just ask a Transformer). I feel like if you decide to shut out the world and live in a bubble you’re selling yourself short. World history, geography, cultures, religions, languages, politics, current events, all of that I would like to have a general knowledge of. I’m not looking to just be better at trivia night, or to be an expert in any of this. No. But, I think of it this way, if aliens were to abduct you and wanted to find out more about your world, what would you be able to say about it. Would you talk about the bible, would you be able to talk about the ice age and the changes the world has gone through, and what if they asked about Asia, would you know enough to say anything? I probably wouldn’t. That’s why it makes the list.
(breath)
And 7. would be to make a transition wherever Linds and I go next as smoothly as possible. House? First dog(s)? First lawnmower? First garden? First time I got to shoot someone to death (probably trying to steal our Wii)? Exciting possibilities. And I got Linds here to show me how to shoot a gun.
Hands off my Wii.
So, cheers everyone and welcome Dan Rausch to the Rausch-Nelsen-Rausch House in Philly.

I’m glad you spend so much time worrying that aliens might abduct you and you won’t have anything to tell them. Just quote as many movies as you can and try to soil yourself before they take off.
Trust me. It works.

I mean every sunday.
And Miles, it was a metaphor, and just wait, that story about aliens, it’s gonna be in my speech for your wedding!
