Saturday

I’m sure all my readers are very aware Miles and Holli’s wedding is coming very quickly. I was just thinking how cool it is that Miles and I will have gotten married just 6 months apart. And I also thought, sucks to be both of them right now. There’s always something to do, someone to talk to, a problem to fix, that you barely have time to relax. And if you don’t use gurgling tequila to relax, then I’m at a loss.

So, this Scott guy I work with gave up smoking today. He took these pills for a week and then today he’s officially not allowed to smoke ever again. Did it work? I don’t think so. He has a cigar in his mouth cause he claims he needs to do something with his hands. He’s pacing like crazy. He’s definitely wittier than normal. And he keeps saying that he just needs to get out of the building. Which goes to show that seeing someone in pain and struggling with addiction CAN be funny. Sitcom.

Linds and I watched Cloverfield last night. 5/6 stars out of 10. I won’t tell you anything about the movie, though. If you want to see it, do it, its a decent “in the theatre” movie. Tonight we have Trivia, which should be fun. It usually is a decent time. I just pray it doesn’t end like last time, us drinking shots all night.

I’ve got a few ideas for my Best Man speech, and all of them have to do with Magic Tricks. So be ready.

Go Giants.

Random Picture

Delorean

I saw that coming home from work one day. Somebody made modifications to their car to make it look exactly like the Back to the Future car, The DeLorean. OR, it actually IS the car from the movie Back to the Future. OR, it actually came back from the future and those people are from 1985. All are possibilities.

Hope ya’ll had a great weekend, no Manning bowl this year, sorry Linds. Without River AND LT they still beat the Colts. Manning made some poor throws but seemed mostly unlucky as the balls were tipped and picked off. There really was no reason they didn’t win by at least 10 points. Definitely now how I thought the game would go.

Another random picture, this is the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Andy Reid (between court appearances I’m sure).

New Scale

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve thought about posting all week. I mean, I could’ve posted about how Bert, once again, didn’t make it into the HOF. I could’ve posted on how Linds and I booked our flights to Miles’ wedding, finally. I also could’ve posted just trying to be funny. I could’ve posted how I finished the Steve Martin Standing Up book and it was brilliant and sad at the same time. Sad because he read into things too much and got great too fast.

But no, instead I’m posting today in the final hour of the work week. Linds and I bought a killer scale that measures body weight, fat, fat%, bone mass, water weight, and BMI. And as the competition will be starting pretty quick I’m currently at 150 pounds (25 more than my senior year of HS) but 20% body fat, which is good. If you don’t know what I’m talking about as far as the competition goes, check out: http://www.milesrausch.com/lindsey

I have to wrap this up cause its time to leave.

Bert

The Hall of Fame induction for 2008 is quickly approaching and in a last ditch effort, I am officially endorsing Bert Blyleven. That’s right Bert, coming from the same blog that has posted some notable commentary on “What to know about the world if you are abducted by aliens” “Crazy Parrots” and of course my infamous “A 13 year old boys’ Top 40 Favorite Songs”.

Dan officially left the apartment yesterday and it was great having him.

Yesterday was also Lindsey and my 6 month anniversary. And we celebrated with Enchiladas and wine, baby! Unfortunately, it was a slow day for TV as the BCS game was fairly uninteresting, but I knew LSU was going to win and my big regret is not putting money down.

Wedding Present

I hope no one minds, but I have picked out Miles and Holli’s wedding present and decided to post it here.

For those of you who know them well, they love animals. Specifically animals you don’t have to pay much attention to and that aren’t obnoxious or show much affection for anyone. In other words, they are bird people. So, after seeing this little guy in the Academy of Natural Sciences, I had to buy him.

His name is Benny and he’ll be the newest member of the Miles and Holli Rausch house.

Here he is:

Dan being here in Philly means we go into the city. It’s usually tense, but cool. The traffic sucks, the parking is impossible or expensive, but we get to see some historical sites and eat some good food.

We were happy to make sure Dan has eaten at a Wawa, at Geno’s, and Chicky and Pete’s. Pete’s was definitely cool, its a fun place, we were there during the Redskins/Seattle game so the game was on, and ate some excellent mussels.

And last night was real cool. Play Assasins Creed immediately if you have a PS3. We played that and GHIII for a few hours last night with Dominic and that was a lot of fun. Linds was killing pregnant chicks, I was climbing buildings like Spiderman, and Dan was throwing knives like Dr. McNinja.

Back to work tomorrow and I really need to focus to get through the month. With Miles’ wedding I do plan on using most/all of my days off that they give me before May. No reason not to. We have a buddy coming up in March that’ll be staying with us, Linds and I wanna go to NYC sometime, maybe Boston, and just to go away somewhere sometime. Not all require using days off, but all are goals of things to make sure to do while around Philly.

Back to work…

I hate going back to work after a long layoff. Your first day or two off you think about work, what would I be doing, what should I still do while I’m away, etc. Then, you get washed up in the event of being home and more importantly away from work. Dinner with these people, drinks with these, basketball games, and being in a Rock Band. Then, the last day or so you have to start thinking about work again. The “oh shit, I forgot about ____ and I should’ve done this or that” comes back and consumes your thoughts. And then you go back to work, you feel like, “God, I’m back, kill me” and it takes a few days before you can get excited about work again.

So, I’m back at work the same day that Miles should’ve had his second day of work (or am I a week off?). (Hard to tell as he hasn’t posted about it…). (But be careful about posting about work…right Tyler?) (Use broad terms that aren’t easily googled).

So far it’s been awesome having Dan in Philly with us. We haven’t done too much aside from play Wii, watch football, and go to church. The actual sight seeing begins today for him and I feel the sicky bug coming on for maybe Friday.

Well, I got to get at it, don’t have January locked and management is breathing down our necks, gotta love high pressure sales…right?

Happy New Year-New Edition

Happy New Year everyone.

So, it’s the time to make New Years Resolutions and vow to really make it. So, my question to you…when’s the last time you actually made your resolution come true?

As far as New Years Resolutions for me:

1. I’d like to get somewhere between 13-18% body fat (right now I’m about 22% which is acceptable but not where I want to be)
2. Pray more. It’s easy to go to church every Sunday, but to make a real decision to make prayer part of your life is hard. It’s all about creating good habits and remaining consistent.
3. Career. I want to be rich, filthy rich. I will probably be moving and I’ll need the best job I can get. I may be going through a career change, a job change, or a location change.
4. I’m kind of embarrassed I didn’t write this, but I would like to be a better husband. And a better man all-around. In every relationship there is room for improvement and I am not immune.
5. Get more involved. I know I’m only 23, but there are a lot of things going on that I think I wish I was apart of that I just skip doing. For example, there’s Ultimate Frisbee city leagues I could join, basketball leagues, bible studies, book clubs, anything like that. And a lot of these Linds and I could even do together, and once she has a more stable schedule we could have fun with those.
6. And this isn’t just for 2008, it’s been something I’ve been big into for a couple years, but that is to know as much about everything as possible. Here’s the theory: we are all representatives of the world (some are ever reps of a whole district within a continent within a country within a state within a county and within a district), and our world is generally young. (Just ask a Transformer). I feel like if you decide to shut out the world and live in a bubble you’re selling yourself short. World history, geography, cultures, religions, languages, politics, current events, all of that I would like to have a general knowledge of. I’m not looking to just be better at trivia night, or to be an expert in any of this. No. But, I think of it this way, if aliens were to abduct you and wanted to find out more about your world, what would you be able to say about it. Would you talk about the bible, would you be able to talk about the ice age and the changes the world has gone through, and what if they asked about Asia, would you know enough to say anything? I probably wouldn’t. That’s why it makes the list.

(breath)

And 7. would be to make a transition wherever Linds and I go next as smoothly as possible. House? First dog(s)? First lawnmower? First garden? First time I got to shoot someone to death (probably trying to steal our Wii)? Exciting possibilities. And I got Linds here to show me how to shoot a gun.

Hands off my Wii.

So, cheers everyone and welcome Dan Rausch to the Rausch-Nelsen-Rausch House in Philly.
