Being home for the first time in ages allowed me to do something I found I miss alot more than I thought: Golf.
I love watching golf, practicing my swing, chipping and putting, and just going out there with an 8-iron and hitting it close to the pin. As Ben Hogan said, “When I’m hitting the ball where I want, hard and crisply, it’s a joy that very few people experience.” Word.
Speaking of that, Tony had already posted about it, but wow, what a U.S. Open. In my life on a few occassions I’ve been watching a sporting event and at some point tried to separate myself from the situation and thought, “wow, I think I’m watching something special here” and that tournament was one of them. I remember watching the Masters when Tiger hit his chip on hole 16. The last Superbowl when the Giants somehow beat the unbeatable. Jordan’s last (kinda) shot. And many many others.
So, since summer viewership is usually…Miles and Holli, I don’t expect an overwhelming response. But lets try it anyway: Name a time that you watched something on live tv or in person that as you watched it you realized it was something special. Does not have to be sports. It could be anything, as long as it isn’t like a tv show (so you can’t say, the last episode of Seinfeld).

Hey ya’ll.
Just wanted a quick post saying that I had a blast while at home and it was great seeing all of you. As always I wish I could’ve been home longer, but that’s life. As always, our apartment is an open door policy so if anyone would like to visit Linds and I, just let us know when you’d like to visit and we’ll work something out.
So far we’ve had the following visitors:
Tony Rolfes
Miles Rausch
Holli Gregg (now Rausch)
Val Rausch (twice)
Paula Rausch
Lori Nelsen
Allison Nelsen (twice)
Gina Nelsen
Alex Dawald
Dan Rausch
Sam House
Kathleen House
Ryan Guse
Natalie Morten (now Guse)
Bill Rausch
Aaron Wynder
Molly Brass
Justin Kaiser
Alicia Schliep
And soon Tim Miles.
So, as you can see, we’re the shit. And if you haven’t visited us, basically what you’re missing is sitting around, drinking, and watching YouTube videos.
We have no idea when we’ll be back home, holding my breath for 888.

Well, maybe my counting is off? Maybe the list got lost in translation? I don’t know. Anyway. I think I left off at #26…and here is #24.
My 24th favorite song is A Long December by the Counting Crows
For years I associated this song with Duke Nukem. I even had it associated to a specific level. And always while playing it over the LAN at Rausch Bros. In what is now Mike and Mike’s office against someone downstairs and maybe someone in the office. We would drink soda like crazy, M&M’s from the M&M machine, and if we were really hopped up on sugar we would start playing with the Rausch Bros. equipment. I believe at one point Miles had the controller for the monument lifter and I was superman llaying on the ropes. Wow. Duke is back, btw. Come Get Some.
