Lame joke…
So here are the details you need to know to “get” this joke, even though I didn’t get one laugh.
First, you have to know me. If I’m not the king, I was at least a nominee for “that guy who tells jokes that nobody gets, the most often”. Miles surrounded by the right crowd can challenge me for this honor.
Second, I’m at an old bowling alley with all my colleagues and managers.
Also, the computers displaying the bowlers name, score, frame and if they had a spare or strike are very old.
The situation: Phil was sitting on two strikes in a row, and to those unfamiliar with bowling terms, three strikes means you bowled “a turkey”. I have no clue who came up with that. I am in the next lane waiting for him to bowl his frame, as to avoid the awkward “we bowled at the exact same time” situation. He sure enough bowls his strike and in his excitement stares at the screen hoping for text or a picture displaying he bowled his turkey.
“where’s my turkey WHERE’S MY TURKEY!??”
I turn to everyone and say, “well, what did you expect…” and this is where I lose everyone. The smiles on everyone’s faces quickly turn to smirks like, “was that even a joke? poor idiot.”
I finish my joke, “well, what did you expect, when these computers were programmed the turkey was still being considered for the National Bird!”
